REFLECTIVE ESSAY1As a new nurse the feeling of unprepared becomes part of our vocabulary for the first year or two. During my first 90 days on the unit I was told to take on a patient with severe PET. My patient came in to be ruled out for PET, but had a main factor that put her at higher risk. Se-vere preeclamptic-eclamptic mothers were at least five times as likely as the non-preeclamptic/eclamptic to have Cesarean Section (Syamsul, 2019). I personally didn’t feel the assignment was ethically correct for a new graduate. Ethical knowing is provided through princi-ples of practice, codes of practice and ethical theories (McEwen & Wills, 2014). I feel one of the other nurses could of stepped up to help out. The underlying issue for me was wanting to always give my patients the best care possi-ble. Which in this situation I had many questions and did not feel confident. However, I do un-derstand this was planned and charge nurse wanted me to get the experience. When getting
