LEARNING STRATEGIES 2 Learning Strategies Learning can be a difficult task for any given individual but if they understand more about how they learn best, the outcome could be beneficial for a lifetime. There are many different tools used to determine how an individual learns material. The VARK questionnaire is one type of tool that helps identify what style best suits a person. They ask a series of random questions about how a person prefers to learn new things and compile the answers to give a final score. The final score shows what method is preferred to that specific individual. The VARK analysis score for this student was multimodal. Multimodal learning strategy is where the student prefers to learn in different ways depending on what material is being taught and the situation. The multimodal strategy suggests the person is flexible in the way they give and receive information, making it easier for them to adapt to any information presented to them regardless of the way it is presented. The multimodal learning strategy is most popular among people who have taken the VARK analysis questionnaire with totals of 60% of the people getting this end result (Fleming, 1992). This information will help people to better understand the different strategies and models of learning, as well as the student’s preference, and will compare the VARK analysis score with those preferences. It will also help explain how it can help them in the future with their learning and how they can incorporate these results into their studies.
