HAZARDOUS WASTE PROCESS2Hazardous waste processHazardous wastes are highly dangerous waste that requires a lot of safety measures to befollowed in their disposal. The handling of hazardous materials needs a lot of regulation andlegislation through environmental bodies and these wastes has to be treated before disposal. Theexposure to hazardous waste poses a lot so risks and threats to the environment includingpeople’s health; moreover, hazardous wastes are found in gaseous, liquid and even solid-state.Incineration is the best method that’s used in destroying hazardous wastes to prevent pollution ofthe environment and in the US; these wastes are regulated under the Resource Conservation andRecovery Act, RCRA (Müller, 2019). Characteristics of a hazardous wasteHazardous wastes are characterized by their toxicity. Toxicity is measured by the impactthey cause when inhaled, ingested or absorbed. Toxic wastes even affect the underground byleaching the soils and affecting plant growth. Moreover, hazardous wastes are tested on theirreactivity. Reactivity may involve violent reaction with water, air, and other chemicals.Hazardous wastes can cause explosions when brought into contact with the environment.
