Candidate Position Paper The candidate that I decided to write my paper on is republican senator John McCain. On senator McCain’s website you can see an over view of the main issues that he tackles, and the changes he wants to make in this country if he reaches the presidency. John McCain has very strong views on a large spectrum of issues. From heath care reforms to supporting the second amendment the senator is determined to change this country for the better for its citizens and their families. In regards to family issues, senator McCain discusses a number of things. We can first discuss the senator’s view on abortion. He briefly discusses Roe vs. Wade, stating that this was a flawed decision that must be overturned. John McCain believes that the issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat. The reversal of the decision of Roe vs. Wade represents a start to the long process of ending abortion. John McCain has publicly noted, “ At its core, abortion is a human tragedy. To effect meaningful change, we must engage the debate at a human level.” In 1993, John McCain and his wife adopted a little girl from an orphanage in Bangladesh. The McCain family experience is similar to millions of others that have found happiness through the adoption of a child and this is the reason the senator will seek ways to promote adoption as a first option for
