Benchmark - Gospel EssentialsThe Christian worldview is all about a relationship with God instead of just a religion where good deeds are the focus. This relationship with God means believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This can change the thinking, actions, and beliefs of anyone who believes in the Christian worldview. Building a relationship with God means understanding him and how he changes people, both individually and humanity, understanding the identity of Jesus, accepting his grace and salvation, and putting faith in Christ. GodAccording to the Christian worldview, God is the creator of the universe, he was there before creation, during creation, and will be there after creation. He made the earth and everything in it and is intimately involved with the daily aspects of all his creation. Christian’s view the creation of the universe according to the Bible, specifically Genesis 1where God createsthe universe and everything in it in 6 days and Genesis 2 where the story of humanity’s creation is discussed. The Christian worldview sees God as an all-powerful, all loving, all-knowing, and fully alive God; “God is good, loving, just, jealous, faithful, and holy” (Hiles & Smith, 2015, para. 9). God continues to love, protect, and serve his creation; including all of humanity. HumanityGod created humanity according to the account in Genesis 2. He created Adam from dust, and then made his companion, Eve, from one of his ribs (Genesis 2:22). Humanity’s purpose wasto dwell with God, look after the Garden of Eden, and rule over all of God’s creation (Genesis 1:15). Genesis 2 shows that humanity originally had a good relationship with God, their identity was rooted in him, he dwelled with them, and took care of them; however, after the fall 1
everything changed when sin entered the world. After the fall humanity’s relationship with God
