Although the free trade agreement between the United States and Columbia has strict legal measures regarding labor conditions. Columbia is doing everything to weaken the labor laws of the country. President Uribe is continuing to intensify his attacks on labor rights, by lengthening the work day, reducing compensation working on national holidays and reducing the remuneration for workers fired without just cause. Columbia does not have any norms that oblige the government to comply with conditions they simply want to preserve their national interest.
