School of Hotel Administration HA 174 Business Computing Cornell University Spring 2008 Exercise 2: Effectively Presenting Business Messages and Analysis D ESCRIPTION OF THE T ASK D UE D ATE : Friday, February 22 @ 9:00AM This exercise provides you with an opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of the concepts and skills introduced in modules 2 and 3. You are required to create your own data set in Excel and a new PowerPoint presentation. Scenario: You have been asked to present an analysis of your company’s fiscal viability to a group of venture capitalists who are considering substantial investment in the company you created for Exercise 1. This presentation will be given at the next board of directors’ meeting. In addition to providing a brief company overview, you will provide charts and content which highlight the company’s current and potential growth. Your refined presentation should illustrate the concepts and features applied in class. Take care to ensure that your presentation does not make frivolous use of visual effects. Think: clean, clear, informative, and professional . The requirements for the two major parts of the assignment are as follows: Part 1: Excel Table 1. Create an Excel Table of 20 records. This list should have enough attributes (columns) to generate informative charts. The data used in this Excel table should be fictional. One of the attributes should allow grouping (e.g. NY, PA). 2. One column should demonstrate a formula based on two existing columns to create new information. 3.
