1 Andrew Vlock English 101 Nietzsche Essay The American Dream and Nietzsche In Fredrich Nietzsche’s “On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense” , Nietzsche discussed man’s most glaring and inherent flaw: his search for truth . Nietzsche is most angered by the ignorance and willingness of man to accept lies as truth . He poses that , “The pride connected with knowing and sensing , lies like a blinding fog over the eyes and sense of men , thus deceiving them concerning the value of existence” (451-452) . By this he means that man is blinded by the perception of knowledge and cannot really understand his surroundings to the extent he thinks he can . Nietzsche uses language as an example to display his point . He believes that an object , no matter how simple or complex , cannot be explained in a title or description . Man articulates objects and uniqueness into concepts and words . He says , “We have seen how it is originally language which works on the construction of concepts , a labor taken over in later ages by science …so science works unceasingly on this great columbarium of concepts , the graveyard of perceptions” (458) .
