2Popular Culture's Perceptions of Sexuality and AgingWhen portraying a popular media cartoon like the one above most would take it as a funny comic picture that someone would see on social media. One that does not necessarily speak any truth just a joke. Media and cartoons like the one shown in this picture have a lot moretruth then some might see. Physiologically, yes, the elderly face changes in their body that may affect their sexual lifestyle but not necessarily end it. They also face psychological changes like changes in mood as well as changes in mental health. Society also plays a role when it comes to the aspects of sexual development and how it is conveyed. They all play a part in the perception of sexuality in the elderly. The message behind this cartoon is that everyone is under the impression that as people hit their senior years they lose interest in things like sex and their sexuality. As well as that senior citizens just stop having sex in general. Among things like physical intimacy with their significant other. It depicts that not all studies or presumptions of senior citizens and their sexuality is correct. They clearly are more intimate with each other than the reporter asking them is assuming. Sexuality is something that is innate in every person even in senior citizens.
