ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) is a statistical method which used to test differences among two or more means. Mean: The mean is the average of the numbers, where you add up all the numbers and then divide by the number of numbers. Example of mean: What is the Mean of these numbers? 6, 11, 7 Add the numbers: 6 + 11 + 7 = 24 Divide by how many numbers (there are 3 numbers): 24 / 3 = 8 The Mean is 8 ANOVA EXAMPLE : Fertilizers X, Y and Z are tested on 12 samples of fields and yield per hectare is as follows X Y Z 14 14 18 16 13 16 18 15 19 22 19 20 Now test the significant difference between mean yields of three fertilizers at 5% level of significance
