The Program Must Be Fun And Enjoyable Choose things that you like to do Don’t select exercise just because others do Exercise should allow you to achieve your goals and maintain interest/motivation II. A Well Designed Fitness Program includes: Aerobic exercise Strength Training Flexibility Training III. What are the basic principles of fitness? Overload- work harder than system is useful SAID- Specific Adaptations to Imposed Demand Progression- Begin and build gradually. Gradually progress; too much too soon may result in injury. Maintaining fitness? Still must progress! No challenge equals no benefit. Consistency- Set time aside on a regular basis for exercise When is the best time? Whenever it fits into daily routine. When is bad time? After meals, just before bedtime Minimum of three days a week Specificity- Changes do to training are activity dependent.
