artifact

Rosie the Riveter
I.
Describe the artifact
in detail. For
instance, how would you describe it to
someone who could not see it?
Rosie the Riveter was the star of a campaign
aimed at recruiting female workers for
defense industries during World War II. She
became perhaps the most iconic image of
working women. American women entered
the workforce during the time of war to
help fill the jobs of the men that enlisted in
the war.
II.
Choose
elements of the artifact
that you believe are most important to how you
experience it and explain why. For instance, what particularly catches your senses or
makes you want to keep experiencing it? Does the choice of medium impact your
experience?
I believe the most important elements of Rosie the Riveter is the way the women is portrayed.
Rosie the Riveter gives the look of confidence, determination, and hard working. Even though
she gives those looks she still has her hair pulled back tightly and is a beautiful woman, giving her
the representation of the ideal woman. Rosie say “We Can Do It” instantly draws my attention.
By Rosie the Riveter grabbing my attention through “We Can Do It” and her appearance of
confidence and strength it gives the sense of feeling that Women are strong enough and can
perform the same jobs that men can do.
