While searching for these things, she also goes through hardships and trauma to find true happiness. Throughout the novel, the author, Charlotte Bronte, put emphasis on Jane’s mental process through trauma. In the early years of her life, Jane went through trauma. She was bullied and abused by the only family that she had left at the time: the Reed family. They constantly blamed her for many things and punished her with miniscule reasoning.This trauma that she faced helped to shape her mental process. She became strong-willed, she overcame the oppression being put on her by the Reed family, and developed good morals. Her good morals and principles are based on her hatred of injustice. She knew what they were doing was wrong so to escape the oppression and better herself; she decided to go to school. Her principles and morals that she had adapted from
