THE LION KING 1 Introduction Throughout our adult life, betrayal is expected in some way, but when betrayal comes from our own family or someone close; we never seem to see it coming. The ultimate betrayal of murder is depicted in Disney’s film The Lion King. Released in 1994, the film stars James Earl Jones and Jeremy Irons as Mufasa and Scar respectively. Disney’s film The Lion King displays many different themes including power, envy, and death . Summary Mufasa is the King of Pride Rock, and his son Simba is the prince. Scar who is Mufasas’ brother becomes envious, because Simba is the heir to Pride Rock and was sought to become the next King. Scars envious actions led to the death of Mufasa and his chasing away Simba to gain power over Pride Rock. Because he represents evil, Scar’s rule is not a good one, and Simba returns, overthrows Scar and becomes King. Power In the film, it is a battle of who has power, and who wants power. Mufasa displays many good traits of a powerful leader; he is brave, strong, and confident. Mufasa is the king of Pride Rock, which means he looks after his people, protects his family, and loves his son. Mufasa is respected by his people.
