Outside Speech Critique
The speech took place in Galbreath Chapel and previewed the evolution of conservatives
and their party alignment. Galbreath Chapel is a small chapel, with a service room immediately
as you enter. Looking around I saw many older couples sitting in the rows of pues. A quant stage
with a single podium and microphone stood as if it was begging for a speaker to accommodate
them. The speaker was a conservative columnist for the new york times. He walked up to the
podium with nothing but confidence and a bottle of water. He was introduced by another man, a
long list of accomplishments was read and he stood as humbly as one could in that moment. He
delivered a intricate memorized speech that was well outlined and filled with lots of political
jargon.
The speech was delivered in memorized mode. As he began his speech he outlined the
main talking points of his speech; the speech was in chronological order of the progression of the
conservative party and the change that it took from the democratic to republican party.
Beginning the speech quickly it wasn’t until a few minutes in that I realized he was going
completely off of the knowledge in his head as he spoke. It was intriguing to see this seemingly
memorized speech
