FINAL REFLECTION 2 Your Intercultural Competence Journey: Final Reflection In my personal life I have not really seen any changes in others in respect to the BASIC and D-I-E tools. I have, on the other hand, been more attentive to not making these microaggressions towards others in my own perceptions and reactions towards people of a different culture than my own. I do not believe other people are even aware of how they come across to others when they make these accusations or assumptions. As Americans, we feel that we do a great job with understanding and responding appropriately to other cultures, when in fact we tend to unconsciously utter microagressions that we think isn’t offensive to other. When in fact it is. Or, we insinuate things without knowing all of the facts. Intercultural competence is something that we all must strive for in our everyday lives. This means “using your knowledge, motivation, and skills to deal appropriately and effectively with cultural differences” (Lustig & Koester, 2013, p. 67).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
