Experimental Procedure: The procedure was followed as described in Mayo, pages 160-167, with the modifications listed in the Canvas document. Reaction Scheme: Data and Results: Data and Results Table 1 Data and Results Table 2 weight of vial = 4.765 g weight of vial + product = 5.302 g Observations: Fog formed along the bottom wall of Hickman still at outside temperature of 137°C Distillate collection in Hickman still started at outside temperature of 1508C Two layer separation occurred after the transfer of the distillate Cloudy distillate became clear after the addition of sodium sulfate 2-Methyl- cyclohexanol Phosphoric acid 1-Methylcyclohexene, 3-Methylcyclohexene Mol.
