February 12, 2019 1 Experiment 4C: Solvent Extraction II: Acid-Base Extraction Using A Two-Component Mixture of a Base and a Neutral Substance. Objective: This exercise investigates how solvent extraction techniques can be applied effectively to problems that require the separation of mixtures of organic acids, bases, and neutral compounds in the research or industrial laboratory. Experimental Procedure: The procedure was followed as described in Mayo, pages 128-131, with the modifications listed in the Canvas document. Reaction Scheme: Data and Results: Observations: After adding HCl 3M to the mixture of Ethyl 4-aminobenzoate, 9-fluorenone, and diethyl ether, two layer separation occurred with the aqueous layer at the bottom and organic layer at the top. As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
