Explain whether you demonstrated social work practice skills throughout your field education experience, including a description of each social work practice skill and the measure(s) provided in the final evaluation. “Moving into the role of a professional, it is important to reflect often on what you have learned academically about the unique mission of social work and its commitment to those in society considered most vulnerable and oppressed” (Garthwait, 2017). While interning at A New Entry Rehabilitation Center (ANE) I learned and demonstrated many social work practice skills daily while interacting with clients and staff. Skills that were used involved communication, empathy, interpersonal skills, organization, problem-solving, and time- management. I served as a counselor to individuals experiencing chemical dependency and homelessness. Duties I performed included; intake assessments, master treatment plans, and weekly one on one sessions with two clients that were assigned to me. I realized I was in a drug rehab facility where a newly sober patient may use drugs while on the premises, relapse while out on pass and return extremely agitated or paranoid. This was a vulnerable and unstable populations that I as a future social worker was in. I put my fear on the back burner believing that if I am genuine, helpful and positive with the clients as well as staff there would be a helpful outcome with clients and staff. It was important for me to feel safe while completing my field experience. I never felt compromised or in any danger while on the premises. According to Peter Daniels, (ANE, 2019), Charity has become solid in her understanding and demonstration of ethical and professional behavior.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
