Callie BurdrickStatistical BulliesOne of the biggest problems today’s youth are facing is bullying. Bullying is seen inbooks, movies, TV shows, just about everything, but it is way more obvious and glorified than inreal life. In real life, bullying is sometimes harder to spot and less typical than we are led tobelieve. Also, bullying has a different impact than we are led to believe.I tend to listen in when the topic of bullying comes up because, like so many other kids, Iexperienced bullying firsthand.Growing up I dreaded going to school, but not because of any academic reason; I wasbullied. Everyday the same kids had a comment, “Oh your stomach rolls when you sit down,” or“Your face scares me, look away.” People will brush comments like that off, saying that kids canbe mean, but kids are only mean when we show them it is okay.Luckily for me, the worst and most obvious of the bullying stopped in sixth grade.
