Megan Vanoy1106 06BFowler9 October 2017 The Yellow Wallpaper Questions1.In the beginning of the story, the narrator, her husband (John), their baby, and her husband’s sister (Jennie) move into a rental home for a few months. At first, it is revealedthat the narrator has some mental illness. Her husband and his sister believe that the narrator is depressed and in order for her to be cured, she must not work. The narrator seems to be hesitant, but her husband assures her that she will get better and this is what’sbest for her. They stay in the attic, which was a children’s room before. The room had one window that overlooked the garden, a bed nailed to the floor, rings in the wall, and the most hideous yellow wallpaper. The narrator repeatedly points out how much she despises the paper. However, once she sees the paper, she is drawn to it and becomes obsessed. She looks for patterns in it and convinces herself that there are two layers. The narrator believes that the second layer in the paper portrays the figure of a woman, one who is trapped. Her husband constantly tries to “help,” her get better and tells her that everything is fine. She eventually begins to become afraid of John and believes it is due
