To prepare for Test 3, you should be able to do the following types of problems after studying Chapters 4.15 to 6.7. Chapter 4 : Use the ball-and-spring model to determine the speed of sound in a solid. Relate the period of oscillation for horizontal or vertical spring to the spring constant and mass. Graphically represent the motion of an oscillator (position or velocity vs. time) given properties of its behavior . Chapter 5 : Write down the definition of the energy of a particle valid at all speeds. Determine the rest energy of a particle. Write down the definition of the kinetic energy of a particle valid at all speeds or for v <<c. Write down the definition of Work using vector components or magnitude and angle. Determine the Work done for a constant force Write down the Energy principle. Apply the energy principle to solve problems involving single particle systems. Apply the energy principle to systems involving identity change
