Review of Chapter 9 One-Way Designs What it is called when we measure the dependent variable twice When do we use Factorial designs? What is a mixed factorial design?
Image of page 2
Main Effects and Interactions Factorial designs allow us to look at the separate effects of each IV as well as their combined effects With factorial designs we can examine three sources of variability in the dependent variable 1) Individual effects of each IV 2) Combined (interactive) effects of the IVs 3) Error variance

Example The effects of alcohol and sleeping pills on intoxication 1 strong alcoholic drink may lead to intoxication = main effect Sleeping pills may lead to intoxication = main effect Taking 1 strong drink and sleeping pills really leads to intoxication = interaction effect The more sleeping pills taken = more pronounced the intoxication

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
