Career Exploration 2This paper will evaluate my chosen career as an occupational therapist. Occupational therapists are people who tend to focus on helping others with certain types of disabilities and how to one day be as independent as possible in their everyday lives. It will discuss topics such as the cost oftuition at the colleges I plan to look at, prerequisite courses, how I will plan to pay for college, etc. By researching, I found scholarships that could help with money towards my degree, and how much money I would be making throughout the years in my career. In result, I would plan toattend a state university and achieve at least a masters degree in occupational therapy. This paper provides my goals in the future and a background of the process of the goal I am trying to achieve. As well as, why this career would be the most suitable for me. Career Exploration: Occupational TherapyTo begin with, my passion in life has always been to help people with their needs. Whether its help with advice, or working with others to satisfy other people's needs, I tend to

Career Exploration 3always become involved. By doing research I came upon occupational therapy. It really caught my eye because its main focus is to help others, therefore, this is something I would really like topursue. Within all of the career exploration I have been doing, helping has been the number one outcome in the results. An occupational therapist treats injured, ill, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. This is something towards the path that I would see myself in because, while in high school I would work with special needs students all the time. I absolutely loved them, while working with them I realized I had a lot of patience and that is something that is needed for a career like occupational therapy. Occupational therapists are people who help others with disabilities such as cerebral palsy, and how to do the daily tasks thatthey are unable to do. They use special equipment and show children with developmental disabilities how to use them. I feel like this job would be very suitable for me because I would bearound an environment that I would be happy in coming to work everyday. It would also keep me moving and having something to do at all times. Pursuing this job would mean to help peopleand see the happiness on someones face when they are finally able to do something they once couldn't, or to help someone reach their goal after making a plan. The outcome of this career is something I would be really interested in because it leaves you with a lot of life lessons and it is something I would never take for granted.
