Last Thursday: Classical Conditioning (Including examples, UCS, UCR, etc.  for next test) Operant Conditioning o A type of behavior in which behavior is strengthened if followed by a  reinforcer or diminished if followed by a punisher Differs from Classical conditioning by voluntary (operant) vs.  impulse (classical) o Operant behavior Operates on the environment, producing consequences o Law of effect (By Thorndike) Behaviors followed by favorable consequences become more  likely; behaviors followed by unfavorable consequences become  less likely o Shaping Operant conditioning procedure; reinforcers guide behavior  toward closer and closer approximations of desired goal o Reinforcer Any event that strengthens the behavior it follows o Primary reinforcer
