Association Easily delete things from a disk Computer needs to be manipulated, brain controls itself Encoding o The processing of information into the memory system Storage o The retention of encoded information overtime

Retrieval o Process of getting information out of memory Types of Memory: o Sensory Memory The immediate, initial recording of sensory information in the  memory system Aware of it, but not necessarily encode it o Short-Term Memory Activated memory that holds a few items briefly Such as remember a phone number, to dial it o Working memory Focuses more on the processing of briefly stored information Related to Short-term memory o Long Term Memory The relatively permanent and limitless storage of the memory  system A simple memory model o External events   Sensory memory  (encoding)  Shorterm  memory (encoding and retrieval) Long term memory Diagram in book!
