Sustainable Environments Assignment #4: Part 1 10 October 2018 Assignment #4: Part 1 Participating in citizen science research has the capability of changing people's’ perspective on the role of science in today’s world because it fosters a relationship between average citizens and science, a field that is historically known to be involved with strictly scientists and academics. The whole concept of citizen science indicates to the public that their individual knowledge is as important to the development of science as scientific scholars’. Therefore, people become more aware of the crucial role that science plays in today’s world; a role that affects the entire population and not just people in the field. Participating in citizen science projects makes the field of science in general seem more “real” due to it now being more accessible to the public, and more open to public contributions.
