Define terms:
Jazz Age -another name given to the 20’s because people were able to experience new forms of recreation and sexuality,
which was exemplified by Jazz music, a blend of European and African American cultures.
F. Scott Fitzgerald- a young college writer during the 1920’s who spoke of the New Society and helped create an image
of the 20’s as a sexually liberated and progressive time period for both men and women, but especially women.
Dr. Sigmund Freud-an Austrian psychologist who talked of psychoanalysis and sexuality, whose works on Oedipan
complexes and repression became very popular among young people.
Alice Paul -the head of the Congressional Committee on National Women’s Suffrage which encourage women to
picket and take drastic measures(chaining themselves to buildings, getting arrested) in order to do so.She also held
that women were just as equal as men and had higher moral footing.
