Understanding of Nursing Quality Indicators There are a few nursing quality indicators that we could focus on in this scenario. Patient falls (Montalvo, 2007), since Mr. J was admitted after a fall in his home, he would be more likely to fall in the hospital and as a hospital we would like to avoid that if at all possible, but automatically putting a patient in restraints is not the way to handle it. Another nursing quality indicator that goes hand in hand with patient falls is restraints (Montalvo, 2007) and the fact that Mr. J was in restraints and I didn’t see anything in the scenario that indicated a need for them. He did have mild dementia and had recently had a surgery, but this scenario did not mention any reason such as frequent attempts to get out of bed un assisted or frequent attempt to harm himself or staff. I think the use of restraints in this scenario was beginning to lead to pressure ulcers and the CNA didn’t address it properly in this scenario. If this patient acquired a pressure ulcer
