Hunter Wine Gordon Wood Analysis Essay “If men were truly to represent the people in government, it was not enough for them to be for the people; they had to be actually of the people.” Stated Gordon Wood. He believed the argument between the Anti Federalists and federalists were about wealth and power in government. Federalist wanted a strong government where all rich men (aristocrats) rule and have authority. The anti federalists believed in states power and less government control (democracy). Congress fought back and forth for a long time about the type of government that America should have. It was a fight of majority against minority. The federalists were the minority however they had the money and “connections” in government, they also had the confidence to say what they wanted.
