EMPLOYEE’S MOTIVATION 2IntroductionThere has been a long debate on whether or not money is the biggest motivator foremployees at their places of work. Many people think that employees are motivated by moneybut believe it or not, money is not that important. Money is a major de-motivating factor foremployees but it does not mean that money is their greatest motivator. According to Dr.Herzeberg in his research, factors that led to satisfaction of employees at workplace are distinctand separate from those that makes them feel dissatisfied (Ruthankoon & Ogunlana, 2013).Instead, the opposite of job dissatisfaction is no job dissatisfaction and likewise, the opposite ofjob satisfaction is no job satisfaction. These job satisfaction factors are referred to as motivatorsor intrinsic factors and those that cause unhappiness are known as extrinsic or de-motivators.Majority of people such as teachers spend a lot of time in their workplace not becausethey receive the salaries that they are worth of but because they are driven by passion or else theyare going to cost their happiness (Lin, 2017). Some people will consider factors such as joblocation as they do not want to commute to a far distance while others choses to work in certainprofessions and will not mind the kind of salary they get. The only circumstances where moneyhave been seen as a motivation factor is situations where individuals willingly do anything to getmoney such as crimes. Therefore, leaders should have a goodunderstanding of motivational factors for all the employees in the company.Employees are influenced by their leaders to do things the right way and this can only beachieved by following and trusting the leaders. Therefore, for leaders to be trusted and performtheir roles in the organization effectively, there must be a motivating factors for their
