I think one of the main issues with addressing the solution to evidenced-based nursing in my facility is resistance. Most of nursing administration are older, changing the culture of “we’ve always done it this way”, can be a challenge, however, as evidenced based-practice becomes the norm for healthcare, this should be easier to overcome. One other issue to the evidenced-based solution is lack of education. We do not have enough nurses with the knowledge of how to implement evidenced based research. For effective change to take place One person alone is insufficient to change the status quo, which is why having a culture that supports a spirit of inquiry and an evidence-based approach to care is so important. One of the first and most important things that can be done is approach the appropriate persons/stakeholders who can influence change. Doing this builds trust and enables you to learn from their experience and provide valuable input that can also play a role in identifying outcome measures.
