Topic 5 DQ 1 What educational qualifications are required for paraeducators in your state? Should paraeducators be educated in the same manner as teachers, and be required to be licensed? Rationalize your choices with reference to this topic's readings and any additional research of your own.Hello Class and Instructor, According to my research there are two main requirements for one to become a paraprofessional in the state of Florida. These are that the individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent, must have completed 2 years or a minimum of 60 hours in course work at an accredited university. There is some variance by district in that it is sometimes acceptable to forgo the two years of university study for a passing score on an approved exam such as the Praxis ParaPro Assessment Test (Study.com) or other approved or assigned paraprofessional exam (TheClassroom.com).I personally feel under qualified to answer whether a paraprofessional should be required to obtain licensing or not. On one hand there are benefits to the students and the teachers if their classroom assistants (is that an acceptable term?) are given uniform standards. This would ensure that there were nationwide qualifications always being met and standards being upheld, hopefully in the student’s best
