OUMH1203 PUSAT PEMBELAJARAN : QUESTION 1 The graph shows us the statistics of motorcycle and private car theft in Malaysia from 1980 to 2010. The graph had also showed that motor vehicle theft is high and rising. In the year of 1980, the statistics shows number of stolen motorcycle and private car is near 20,000 that had been stolen in Malaysia. But after the year of 2000, the motor vehicle theft has increased to the number that will make every one scared and motor vehicle owner will afraid that’s not safe anymore to park at public include in their own house are. From the statistics shows us that 160,000 cases of motor vehicle theft happened in Malaysia. From the graph, we can see motorcycle theft is worse than private car. From year 1980 until year 1995, the motorcycle that had been stolen is around 10,000 cases. But after the year of 1995, the number of motorcycle that had been stolen had increased from year to year and it hit 120,000 cases in year 2005. From percentage view, motorcycle theft is a huge percentage of the type of total motor vehicles stolen. In 2005, for example, motorcycles comprised 68% of the total motor vehicle theft. The proportion of motorcycle theft shows an increasing trend. In the 2005-2009 period, motorcycles are estimated will increased up tov80% of all the motor vehicles stolen. And for preventive measures or to improve the security that can be taken by the motorcycle owner is by adding steering lock, gear lock, brake or clutch lock and maybe tyre lock. With these preventive measures that we hope will help to decreased the motorcycle theft. In the same time the number of motorcycle stolen generally fell every year in Malaysia. Surprisingly, the number of private cars stolen generally fell every year from 1980 to 1995, after which this trend reversed. In the period of 1980-1995, the number of stolen private cars fell an average of 3.2% every year. But in 2005-2009, the number of stolen private cars instead increased by an average of about 6.4% every year. Especially after 2000, the number of stolen private cars increased sharply. In 1980-1995, the average number of stolen private cars is almost 6000 a year, but in 2005-2009, this figure increased more than 3.5 times to more than 21,000 private cars stolen a year. And for preventive measures or to improve the security that can be taken by the private car owner is to fix any steering lock, gear lock, brake or clutch lock, GPS car tracking system,

But I suggest private car owner to contact GPS car tracking company which fits a hidden tracking device in a car. This idea is to help by tracking the device fixed in the car helps to locate the stolen car by giving out its GPS coordinates, increasing the chance of recovery.
