1 US History I 26 June 2019 American Indian Reading Assignment 1.) The Hopi creation story tells about the four world’s that inhabited Tawa’a creations. The creations started out happy but became disobedient over time. The most obedient creations of the world were taken to the next higher world by Spider Grandmother, and their physical appearance and environment changed between each world. Tawa created the worlds because he disliked the endless space with no objects or life. Each time a new world was created, new creatures were brought into existence. By the third world, men and women were created. While trying to discover the fourth world, the people made birds out of clay and sent them into the sky. After three different birds failed to discover who inhabited the sky, the medicine men created the catbird, who found Masauwu. When Masauwu granted the people access to come live in the fourth world, they set out to find a way to get there. Spider Grandmother sent her grandsons to find a chipmunk, who was then told to find a path to the sky. After three failed attempts, the
