Britannica (2016) describes political science as the systematic study of governance by the application of empirical and generally scientific methods of analysis. The essence of political science as a derivative of social science studies, through evidence-based methodologies, democracy, and influencing elements i.e. conflict, rights/liberties, authority, etc.; in addition to studying the associations (e.g. governmental bodies and/or agencies) that affect and motivate them through quantitative and qualitative methods. What are the typical characteristics of science? Science can be described as an intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment (Oxford Dictionary, n.d.).
