Retrieved from: - On the early Sunday of Jan. 8, 2018, a man by the name Britton was reported to have set fire on St. Stephen Presbyterian Church, causing more than $ 500,000 property damage. Although the fire was quickly put off, the church was severely damaged endangering the nearest TCU campus. Britton could possibly be charged with Arson and criminal mischief. According to Texas penal laws, the offense he committed lies under tittle 7 (offenses against property) chapter 28. (Arson, criminal mischief and other property damage or destruction.). under section 28.02, a person commits arson if he or she starts a fire regardless of whether the fire continues to spread after ignition or causes explosion with an intend to destroy or damage other people’s property including buildings, vegetation, habitation, fence and many others as defined under section 28.01.
