One of the five elements of emotional intelligence is self-awareness. What behaviors would someone with strong self-awareness demonstrate within the context of leading and managing groups? Provide an example.Emotional intelligence is a noncognitive ability to adapt to one’s environment based upon their competence in emotional and social abilities and skills (O’Neill, 2013). Once emotional intelligence is learned, individuals are better able to adapt to the demands and stressors in their environment. Self-awareness, an element of emotional intelligence, it is the ability of a person to be understand their feelings and emotions, and how these emotions can influence and affect those around them (Huber, 2014). A good leader knows whento be aware and understand how their attitude and emotions can influence and affect the employees that they are leading. The leader's behavior, patterns of actions, attitude, and performance have a special impact on the team's attitude and behaviors and on the context and character of work life (Huber, 2014).
