Describe the patterns of growth in middle childhood and identify factors related to physical growth. The patterns of growth in middle childhood years is boys and girls continue to gain a little over 2 inches in height per year. One of the factors related to physical growth is the growth spurt. The average gain in weight between the ages of 6-12 is about 5-7 pounds per year. Most children of the same age are within the same pounds and inches of eachother. 2. Identify characteristics of children who are overweight. Obese children are lmore likely to have respiratory problems, including asthma, going problems, fatty liver disease, gall stones and acid reflux. Children who are obese are likely to develop diabetes. As well as high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
