Choosing a New Director of Research 1.If I were Sandra, and was put in this position, I would pick Kelsey Metts as the candidate to hire for my team. This would be my decision after I have learnt about the trait approach. While reading chapter two and learning about the different studies of leadership traits and characteristics, I noticed that the most common and strongest trait that was present by most researchers was intelligence. Stogdill (1948), Mann (1959), Lord DeVader, and Alliger (1986) and Zaccaro, Kemp and Bader (2004) all had intelligence as a leadership characteristic. Now following similar strategy, pro forma, in acase of law, I have decided to select my candidate, Kelsey, based on her keen intelligence trait. Kelsey has a reputation for being very bright, and she has received her MBA at Harvard, graduating top of her class. This shows she has intelligence, motivation and is a hard worker.
