Please use chapter 2 of our Communication in the Real World: An Introduction to Communication Studies textbook, the Tedx Talk The Science of Stereotypes by Jason Keith and the YouTube video Threats of Stereotypes to answer the following questions: Question 1 As you have read this week in Section 2.1 of the Communication in the Real World book, the perception process happens fast! In the moment it can seem almost instantly. We know now though, that we can break the process down into steps. Name the 3 steps of the perception process. Provide an example of each step and explain how your example fits the definitions of the steps. Insert your answers below. If you need more space, the box will automatically expand as you hit Enter . 1. Selection – An example of the selection step in the perception process is when I’m somewhere with my kids, no matter how loud it is where we are, I can always hear them call “Mom”. I can distinguish the voice of my kids in a crowded room from any other kids there. 2. Organization – An example of the organization step in the perception process is when people assume that I am “Mom” to all seven of my children. Because I am biologically the mother of two of my seven kids (the other five are my bonus kids) and am often referred to as “Momma” by my bio kids when I’m out with all my kids, people will often make comments about me having birthed all seven of my kids.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
