Roman cont. Roman is not divided into periods of time, such as Greek and Egyptian Pantheon, Rome, Italy, 118-128 AD Contrasting readings of spatial elements, niches that sink back into the wall and extending walls between them. Patterns, across from each other with niches and dome with repetition in pattern Dome focuses right at the center, where the only natural light is let in Shape of dome directs a wind tunnel affect through the building, creating a comfortable environment within. ***Simply a cylinder, Space feels confining When lights are turned off, the contrasts are inverted, what is light becomes dark and what is dark becomes light Sculpting space, void, and putting it into motion Predetermined proportions and positions of pieces Darkness draws eyes in, through to the infinite space. No visible end Circle brings everything together and holds them together, a sense of unity within the architecture. Hidden arches to transfer the load and concentrate it on the extending walls
