1.What are some factors that led to China's going from having the world's largest economy to being overtaken as a superpower by the West in the 19th and 20th centuries? Some of the factors that led to China being overtaken were China tried to lock themselves up from communicating and trading with other countries starting in the beginning of 19thcentury. That is probably why they are more focused on agricultural society instead of industrial society. Another factor that I can think of is that Western countries started to accept the fact of being liberal democracies, but China, in the main while, is still focused on the Zhou feudal system, not givingcitizens enough freedom of choice and speech. China also made a big mistake refusing George Macartney’s offer to trade. 2.How does the saying "Sweep the snow from your own house, don't worry about the frost on your neighbor's roof" describe China through its history?
