Module 2: Community Statistical General Objective data criteria: Demographics: According to City-Data (2015a), as of 2016, the total population for 92110 zip code was 28, 916. The male population within this community appears to be outnumbered by the females. Women make up 51.4% of the population, while men only make up 48.6%. The average age for both female and male in this area is 33-34. The people in this community age ranges from 0-85 years old and are well-distributed between males and females, however, there was a peak in females in between the of ages 20-24. The community mainly consisted of young adults who are in their late 20’s to early 40’s. An interesting find was that there was about 21% of children who were living within this zip code when compared to other parts of the country. In reference to the United States Zip Code website (2019), multi-family households make up 33% of the population and while there’s only 12% of that population was a single-family household. Non-family households make up 55%. This may be due some people living alone or with a roommate. To put it more in perspective, the City-Data break down the statistics to reflect the difference between male and female occupancy within this community. They reported there were 16,932 multi-family households, which 2,767 consisted of male householders and 2,692 were female householders. In a nonrelative household, there were about 8,504 people living with one another. Of the estimated 8500 people, 3,050 were male householders and 2,730 were female householders. There were 252 of the 3,523 population were living in group quarters, like an institution. The population also consisted of 874 single-parent households, which of them were 682 women when compared to only 192 men. There were about 3,251 married couples with children (City-Data, 2015a). However, when comparing the city of San Diego to a national level regarding population, we are nowhere close to its number. As of July 1, 2017, the estimated population in the San Diego
County was one point forty-two million as compared to 39.5 million in the state of California, and the national population of 327.2 million (United States Census Bureau, n.d.). The average age of the residents of San Diego County was 35.7 years old as compared to 36.4 years to the state of California. 50.3% of male population occupied the city of San Diego as compared to 49.7% was populated by females (City-Data, 2019b). According to Statista (n.d.a), as of July 1, 2017, there were 160.41 million males and 165.31 million females living in the United States. In 2017, the average age of the population of the United States was 38 years (Statista, n.d.b). In the county of San Diego, the City-Data estimated about 2.68 million people made up of multi- family households of which 401,584 were male householders and 344,168 were female householders. In nonfamily households, there were 543,124 people were noted to be living in San Diego County of which 177,631 were male householders and 187,185 were female householders. There were only 89,847 people that were reported to be living in group quarters.
