Unformatted text preview: Claire White February 5 th , 2008 Latin 1002: Extra Credit Assignment 300 Movie Review/Observations Over the weekend, I watched 300 , an epic film of 2007. This movie was a fictional dramatization and retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae. The Spartan leader, Leonidas leads 300 Spartans to fight against the Persians led by King Xerxes and his army which clearly outnumbered the Spartans by over a million. However, the historical accuracy of this film is not entirely precise, but the majority of it is and it attempts to depict real events. However, this film was written based off of the comic /graphic book written by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. The screening was mainly graphic design, so the visualization seemed unrealistic. They way the movie portrayed the Spartans was as a male-loving society with a central focus on war, strength, and unity as a nation. And conversely, the Persians were portrayed as monster and barbaric. I believe that the producers did this intentionally to highlight the stark monster and barbaric....
