Notes for ME 231: Exam #1 The Basics: These are the only four things that need to be done to solve any problem! 1) Construct a TL view of a line a. Project over a plane parallel to the line 2) PV of any line a. Construct a TL view b. Project over a plane that is perpendicular to the TL line 3) Line view of a plane a. Construct a TL line on the plane b. Project over axis that is perpendicular to the TL line 4) TS of any plane a. Construct a line view of the plane b. Project over plane that is parallel to the line view Rules: 1) If two lines intersect, they have a single point in common. This point must project from view to view.

Finding Intersections 1) Intersection of Line and Plane a. Construct “Line View” of the plane i. Pick a TL line on the plane ii. Project the TL line over a plane perpendicular to the TL line b. The single point the line and line view of the plane have in common is the intersection c. Project this back into the other views 2) Intersection of Two Planes (intersection is a single line)
