Introduction
Medicinal plant is the main ingredient in making tea.
Tea is one of the simplest beneficial drink not just
in Philippines but all over the world. Tea contains antioxidants that work to prevent the body’s version of rust
and thus help to keep us young and protect us from damage from pollution. And also tea has less caffeine than
coffee that may help people who wanted to decrease their weight. It contains more calcium than milk, as well as
iron, vitamin A and K that can help to protect and make the bones stronger. Tea may boost one's immune system
and prevent cancer. It is well-known kind of drink for thousands of years and has been a huge part of cultures in
different countries.
Our world provides us so many beneficial plants. They keep their nutrients
very well so we can utilize it as well. They contain very good nutrients in which they
are used in medicine or drugs in healing diseases. Scientists propose
medical
plants to used for the high cost of pharmaceutical products. One of the beneficial
plants for our health is Malunggay. It is popular plant known for high nutritional
value as well as an herbal medicine.

Phytochemical is chemical compounds produced by plants and the study
analyzed that Malunggay leaves were particulary rich in potassium, calcium,
phosphorus, iron, vitamin A and D, Essential amino acids as well as known as
antioxidants such as β-carotene, vitamin C and flavonoids. Furthermore, this miracle
plant is rich in compounds containing simple sugar, rhamnose and unique group or
glucosinolates and isothiocyanates which categorized as hypotensive, anticancer
and antibacterial activities. Benzyl isothiocyanate which is found in Malunggay
leaves can prevent cancer cells in our body. Malunggay leaves are also used in the
treatment of prostate and skin cancer. While another study show that Malunggay
can prevent against doxorubicin resistant human breast cancer cells. Malunggay
leaf can even heal tumor and prevent cancer cells activities. It also contain

important nutrient called anthelmintic which can prevent against parasitic or worms
and
may
able
to kill the intestinal worms activities in the body. Vitamin B1 of Malunggay is can
also prevent rheumatism for aged. Malunggay leaves contain calcium, potassium,
protein, iron and vitamin A, B, and C in which they contribute and balance the
cholesterol level in the body and help in combating malnutrition.
It is said that
malunggay is also a very useful tea but its taste is not good
for children.
Like any other medicinal/herbal tea, children dislike drinking Malunggay Tea even it is very useful and
effective and even their guardians want them to. As a result, guardians tend to have problems on how they can
convince the children in drinking the nutritious Malunggay tea.
