CRJU112 – Law Enforcement and the Multicultural Community 2 Community Policing Did you know that there is three ideas that underly community policing? I know that I did not know that and was surprised to find out. Did you also know that there are four dimensions of community policing? Did you also know that social media can affect community policing? I was unaware that social media could affect community policing. One of the four dimensions is philosophical. Philosophical are ideas and beliefs of a new style of policing. The three ideas that underly community policing are citizen input, an enhanced and broadened police function, and personal service. The second dimension is strategic. Strategic is the key concept that puts philosophy in action. This includes strategy like assigning officers to the same areas so they can know and understand the people of the community. The
