Executive Summary (Approx. 400 words) 390 wordsThis is a risk management plan for the upcoming Splendour in the Grass 2018 festival that is held annually at the North Byron Parklands in Byron Bay. Splendour in the Grass is a music festival that hosts twelve stages over three days. In this plan both the internal and external context was discussed giving an in depth detail into any and all trends currently affecting the Splendour in the grass, as well as the surrounding Byron, New South Wales and Australian region. The internal context covered specifically the structure, set-up, expected attendance, demographic and other factors that will be affecting the festival, whereas the external context covered the six topics of the environmental, economic, legal, political, technological and sociocultural context. During this section, only topics affecting the external context were discussed such as the threat of terrorism for political and the current census information for sociocultural. Following this, the risk assessment was conducted, it was conducted by fulfilling two steps: risk identification, which was done through group brainstorming sessionsand then the risks that were identified were placed into a risk assessment table. These risks were then analysed in this table by identifying the consequences, the risk’s status in terms of impact and probability and finally which risk treatment option would best suit the risk with an appropriate action plan. Drug abuse and crowd crush were deemed to be two of the most appropriate risks to discuss further in the plan due to their severity, which was further discussed amongst other risks in the result section. What was discovered through research from journal articles, government documents, news articles and industry documents was both of the key risks were apparent throughout music festival history and other similar festivals featured methods of dealing with said risks, however the residual risks were still there and a risk treatment option was made to implement further controls. For both risks, mitigation was named the best appropriate method of dealing with the risks, as they can never truly be dealt with although you can control the ways in which it can be managed. One of the actions was to drug swabbing attendees at the entrance of the festivals. In conclusion, through research and discussion, the best appropriate actions were taken in regards to increasing safety to the attendees of the Splendour in the Grass music festival. 1.0 Introduction (Approx 250 words): 179Splendour in the Grass has been a successful, fast growing music festival since 2001.
