A story about a man who downs in the water and ends up at the villagers land and his unusual appearance creates fantasies for the villagers. The title kinds of draws attention to the word ‘handsomest’ and ‘world’ where the author uses those words to describe the drowning man in according to the villagers fantasies. Marques use the magical realism in the start of the story as a clear point. The village and its people occur in a realistic manner. The arrival of the drowned man illustrates the elements of fantasies. When the people of the villagers see the drowned man they are admired by his size. One of reason why they are fantasized by his size is that the villagers were located in a rural area where food was not a luxury it was kind of a Stone Age era where they have limited resources.
